Redfish Guitar Electronics
Redfish Guitar Electronics is not a massive enterprise by any stretch. It’s really two guys with a long and varied history in the business of guitar
and bass playing, selling, fixing, modifying, designing, advertising, and marketing of musical instruments, primarily guitar and bass but extending into most stringed instruments.
Music has always been the roots of their family tree, Mom singing in the church choir and Dad working the sound reinforcement side of things.

The older brother, Todd, started off by playing bass and singing with local bands in the 60’s. He learned how to take things apart and put them back together, as well as solder cables from his Dad. They built bass amps together for fun.
In the early 70’s Todd apprenticed with a local music store, working his way up to performing guitar set ups, leveling/crowning fret boards, changing pickups, cutting violin bridges, and just about anything else in the realm of instrument repair.
In 1977 Todd opened his own music store, welcoming beginner and pro musicians for instruments, accessories, and service. The business was a sales leader in several ground-breaking lines, such as Ibanez, Crate, EMG, Bartolini, and DOD/Digitech.
In 1983 he left retail for the music wholesale world, specializing in sales, marketing, advertising and product design for companies that included SWR, EMG, Matchless, ESP, Ovation, Takamine, Modulus, Gretsch, Spector Basses, and Fender.
The younger brother, Scott, wasn’t just sitting idly by. He, too, fell down the musical rabbit hole, playing drums and guitar and singing with bands as well. He also worked at local music stores in the area of sales and instrument repair.
He spent few years in the professional photography world and then his career path took him to IT where he became a whiz at taking apart and putting together computers, computer networks, and electronics. He also developed his expertise in guitar building and repair and has run a very successful and sought after business in this area.
Todd and Scott moved to Southwest Florida a few years ago and the two joined forces to create Redfish Guitar Electronics.
With a couple of pickup design ideas and a very adaptable manufacturer in Asia, using ALL the right stuff (from the magnets to wire to pure nickel silvercovers), their TINY pickup line was launched. They do NOT offer every existing pickup design. They have a few that represent what THEY want out of a pickup. YES they are opinionated, it’s what makes America great! They hope you appreciate what they have accomplished. right stuff (from the magnets to wire to pure nickel silver
covers), our TINY pickup line was launched. We do NOT offer 186
different designs. We have a few that represent what WE want out of a
pickup. YES we are opinionated, it’s what makes America great! We
hope you appreciate what we’ve accomplished and we also think it’s
great that we all have such a wide and wonderful range of choices in this
country. Anyway, after a collective 100+ years in the industry, we are
allowed.

Then the pedals. OH, the pedals! That Music Store used to purchase
Ibanez pedals 100 at a time (not bad for a 1,000 sq ft store front), ditto
DOD (later called Digitech), Pro Co RAT, and some preamps of our own
design. It was only natural that when PCBs starting showing up and
promised ORIGINAL designs from the 60s-70s and beyond, that Todd
couldn’t resist getting his fingers dirty. We build anything from a Line
Driver to a full on, Uni-Vibe clone, we got pedals. TRUE to the originals
design, many with “switch out-able” mods that greatly improve the
pedals diversity.
Finally, they started “building guitars”. Since necks and bodies became readily available in the market place they could build a far better instrument for less money than many other manufacturers. Incorporating components from Warmoth, Kubicki, and even 100% Graphite Necks from Geoff Gould at Modulus.
Their Top Tier guitars include bodies and necks sourced from an old friend who owns a business with over 150 years of instrument building experience in Eastern Europe. Utilizing Redfish Electronics pickups and hardware, these are guitars and basses for a lifetime.
